We’re gearing up for another winter family vacation; this time heading back to the Smoky Mountains, and while I’m not sure if there will be snow, I’ve been doing a bit of shopping lately! We live in South Carolina so whenever we head somewhere cooler during the winter, it means I may or may not need to “pick up a few things”
Here’s what’s on its way to me very shortly!
I have almost kinda been wanting a pair of Ugg boots for several years now; when I really wanted them in my early 20’s as a new mom, I couldn’t afford the luxury of $100 boots and then as I got older I started to feel like they were for the younger crowd. As I head toward my 42nd birthday in January, I’ve come to realize that it truly doesn’t matter. My feet get cold and these boots look super warm, comfy and casual with my new simplified wardrobe. More on that in a second.
So I went with the Ugg Sumner boot; it’s a bit less bulky than the classic Ugg boot, so a more streamlined look. Ideally I was hoping for the gray or black pair but since they were out of stock I went with these standard Chestnut color ones. If I like them however, I do fully intend to get another pair!
I’ve been hearing so much about the Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan from Nordstrom now for several years from but I have to admit the price tag has kept me from indulging for a long while. If you haven’t guessed by now; I’m a minimalist, bargain shopper but as I’ve moved toward quality over quantity and have been trying to streamline, downsize and simplify my home and life, I’ve been replacing much of my ‘bargain’ finds for items that will last longer (hopefully) and be part of a capsule wardrobe.
Next up, leggings! Let’s face it, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am in no way, shape or form a LulaRoe person; you see, the way my booty is set up…. Bright prints and this behind, let’s just not go there. But, leggings are a given in any work-at-home moms wardrobe; so I opted for a few pair of the Zella Live-in Leggings, also from Nordstrom. I’ve heard great things about these and I’m hoping for something that doesn’t make my skin crawl after a few hours of wear. Sometimes being a claustrophobic person, I just need to take a pair of leggings off and go put on a maxi-skirt. Especially on days when I don’t shave for a while, but you didn’t hear that here. So, I’m hoping for good things from these leggings, I’ll be sure to keep you posted in a try-on video on my channel and back here on the blog, I’ll be sure to post some pictures.
With the exception of the past month in which we went from Hurricane Matthew in October to no rain for thirty some-odd days; it rains a lot in South Carolina in the Fall. In trying to be more ‘outdoorsy’ and incorporating more nature into our homeschool, I need to get on board with my wardrobe, and that means a proper pair of “wellies”
I’ve been in love with the look of Hunter rain boots for years now but have never made the big purchase, until now! Behold! My red Hunter rain boots! I’m actually looking forward to the next storm!
So, that’s it for now! We’ll be in the Tennessee in December and are looking forward to some relaxing family time. I do not thing we’ll be skiing on this trip, nor will we probably do any snow tubing but you just never really know.
I think these staple wardrobe items will be a fantastic addition to the winter capsule set that I’m in the process of creating. I’ll be updating the blog and YouTube channel as these items come in and as I add additional items to the mix, so be sure to check back!
